Repablik Ak Seeks to Raise Awareness on Drug Act and Human Trafficking
Creative Image Foundation, in cooperation with Tosh Entertainment, present “Repablik Ak”, a freestyle experimental play in Tagalog by notable filmmaker Toshihiko Uriu (producer of Aliw Award winner “BAKATA: Battle of the Street Poets”). Directed by Pio Balbuena, with creative consultants Direk Tikoy Aguiluz, Onin Delotavo Tagaro, and Rolando Eucasion, the show has been crafted to showcase the artistic talents of the CIF children and to raise awareness on Republic Act 9165 (Drug Act) and 9028 (Human Trafficking Act) that have taken hold of the country.
This story is about a family, not so different from any other, were it not for a stroke of fate. Alma, the eldest in the family, is a pimp forced to work in a harsh industry to provide for her brothers. Cesar is the middle child who happens to be a drunkard and a lout. Lito is the youngest child who has been dragged into a bad crowd. Will her good intentions prevail? Will they manage to stay together inspite of the harsh circumstances?
*The show is rated R13: Viewer discretion is advised.
