After ending her limited engagement as Jenna Hunterson in Waitress the musical last March 11, Tony and Grammy-Award nominee Sara Bareilles is hard at work at her next project.

Last January of this year, it was announced that Bareilles will be playing the role of Mary Magdalene opposite John Legend as Jesus Christ and Alice Cooper as King Herod in NBC’s upcoming live concert of Jesus Christ Superstar this coming Easter Sunday, April 1, 2018. The show will be staged in front of a live audience at the Marcy Armory in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.

You can catch a sneak peek of Bareilles singing “I Don’t Know How to Love Him” in the video below.

Last February, we also saw John Legend teasing us with his take on “Gethsemane.”

Jesus Christ Superstar opened on Broadway in 1971 and was nominated for five Tony Awards, including Best Original Score for Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice.
