Waitress the Musical releases the first 4 minutes of its proshot, where we find the cast starring Sara Bareilles as Jenna Hunterson performing the opening numbers, What’s Inside and Opening Up.

Joining Bareilles in the cast are Drew Gehling as Dr. Pomatter, Charity Angél Dawson as Becky, Caitlin Houlahan as Dawn, Christopher Fitzgerald as Ogie, Eric Anderson as Cal, Dakin Matthews as Joe, and Joe Tippett as Earl.

The proshot is set to be released in US cinemas for 5 nights only starting December 7. Let’s hope the proshot becomes available in our shores soon!

Featuring music and lyrics by Sara Bareilles and a book by Jessie Nelson, Waitress follows Jenna, a waitress and expert pie-maker who dreams of a way out of her small town and rocky marriage. When a baking contest in a nearby county offers her a chance at escape, Jenna fights to reclaim a long-forgotten part of herself. Through the support of her fellow waitresses and an unexpected romance, Jenna begins to find the courage to take a long-abandoned dream off the shelf. Waitress celebrates the power of friendship, dreams, the family we choose and the beauty of a well-baked pie.

Waitress the Musical is directed by Diane Paulus. The show opened at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre on Broadway in April 2016 and closed on January 5, 2020. It reopened on September 2021 for a limited run starring Bareilles as Jenna mainly to produce the live stage recording. It was nominated for 4 Tony Awards including Best Musical and Best Musical Score by Bareilles.

A Philippine staging by Atlantis Theatrical also ran in 2018 starring Joanna Ampil as Jenna Hunterson.
