Sara Bareilles to Play Mary Magdalene Opposite John Legend in NBC’s Jesus Christ Superstar
Composer-lyricist of Waitress the Musical Sara Bareilles has just announced on Twitter that she has landed her dream role of playing Mary Magdalene in NBC’s upcoming live concert of Jesus Christ Superstar this coming Easter Sunday, April 1, 2018.

She will be playing the role opposite John Legend, who will play the title role, and Alice Cooper who will play King Herod. According to Playbill.com, the live concert version will be staged in front of a live audience at the Marcy Armory in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.

Sara Bareilles is set to reprise her starring role for a limited engagement as Jenna Hunterson in Waitress the Musical from January 16 until February 15, 2018.
