‘Pinocchio’ Musical Coming to Ayala Malls Feliz This October
Ephesus Teatron Group Inc., in cooperation with Ayala Malls Feliz, is set to stage Pinocchio this October at the Activity Center of Ayala Malls Feliz in Pasig City.
Running from October 9 to 11, the musical follows Pinocchio, a wooden puppet brought to life after his maker, Geppetto, wishes for him to become a real boy. To become fully human, Pinocchio must learn to be honest and make the right choices as he encounters a series of adventures away from home.
Based on the book by Carlo Collodi, the musical features an adaptation and lyrics by Jim Eiler and music by Eiler and Jeanne Bargy. The material received a Special Emmy Award from the Television Academy in 1996 for its CBS network production.
Sweet Samaniego Buchanan directs the production, with musical arrangements by Pipo Cifra.
Brie Mosquito leads the cast in the title role, alongside Red Nuestro as Geppetto, Buchanan as the Blue Fairy, Sheila Gamo as Angelina, Bhen Espina as Antonio, Nazer Salcedo as the Coachman, and Dusty Suarez as the Coachman, Geppetto, and Townsperson.
Also in the cast are Althea Ruedas as Candlewick and Gino; Sofia Gabrielle Magno as Candlewick; Jay Paulo Danganan as Signore Volpone (The Fox); Paulo Esteva and Ed Vincent Bonoan as Signore Gatto (The Cat); Vinz Cantillo as Signore Volpone, Toy, and Townsperson; Sofia Yzabel Mallares as Candlewick and Townsperson; and Erika Mae Salas and Joahnah Marie Sevilla as Blue Fairies and Townspeople.
Michelle Ann Lacorte serves as understudy for Angelina, while Jethro Leone Ting serves as understudy for Pinocchio.
The ensemble includes Kheem Evelio Pedrosa, Lloyd Pilapil, Lunelenne Darilay, Clara Bianca Esteva, Paul David, Jan Keith Campus, Mattea Recana, Ann Charlotte Gamo, Solana Mel 18 Lacorte, and Jordin Louise Ting.
Based on Collodi’s classic story, the production explores themes of honesty, responsibility, courage, and the consequences of one’s choices. According to the company, staging the musical at Ayala Malls Feliz is also part of its effort to bring live theater closer to families and communities in eastern Metro Manila and nearby Rizal.
Pinocchio runs on October 9 at 7:00 PM, October 10 at 1:30 PM and 5:30 PM, and October 11 at 1:30 PM and 6:00 PM at the 2nd Floor Activity Center of Ayala Malls Feliz in Pasig City.
