
One Night Stand Cabaret Stages Regine Velasquez Tribute This September
One Night Stand Cabaret is set to pay tribute to Regine Velasquez-Alcasid with Cheter Does Chona: A Musical Theatre Tribute to Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez-Alcasid this September.
The one-night-only cabaret will feature songs from Velasquez-Alcasid’s repertoire reimagined with musical theater arrangements, exploring what her music might sound like if it were part of a musical. The cast for the evening features Almond Bolante (Delia D.), Jillian Ita-as (The Notebook: The Musical), Sha-ira Opsimar (Mabining Mandirigma), Vic Robinson (Pingkian: Isang Musikal), Ava Santos (Bagets: The Musical), Paeng Sudayan (Rak of Aegis), and Katrine Sunga (Man of La Mancha).
Known by the nickname “Chona,” Velasquez-Alcasid is the best-selling Filipino music artist of all time, with more than 8.5 million records sold worldwide. An award-winning singer, actress, and television host, she has also appeared on the Philippine stage. She played Rosing opposite Janno Gibbs in Kenkoy Loves Rosing at the Music Museum in 1992 and Maria Clara opposite Audie Gemora in Noli Me Tángere at the Cultural Center of the Philippines in 1995. She is also set to return to theater in an upcoming musical featuring the songs of Ogie Alcasid.
Cheter Does Chona will be directed by Phi Palmos, with musical direction by Farley Asuncion.
The performance will be held on September 15, 2026 at 7:30 PM at 12 Monkeys Music Hall & Pub in Estancia at Capitol Commons, Pasig City. Door charge is ₱1,000. For table reservations, contact 12 Monkeys at 0917-570-3222.
One Night Stand Cabaret is a recurring musical theater cabaret series built around one-night-only performances, summed up by its tagline: “No repeats. No reruns. Just a One Night Stand.”
