Jason Robert Brown’s 13 the Musical is now streaming on Netflix!
Based on the 2008 Broadway musical, the film is directed by Tamra Davis. Robert Horn returns to adapt the script based on the book he co-wrote with Dan Elish.
13 the Musical follows 12 year-old Evan Goldman as he’s forced to move from New York to a small town in Indiana after his parents get divorced. The musical is known for being the only Broadway musical to have a cast and a band composed entirely of teenagers. It was also Ariana Grande’s professional debut as she played the role of Charlotte the cheerleader.
As previously reported, the film stars Eli Golden as Evan, will include Debra Messing, Josh Peck, Peter Hermann, and Rhea Perlman, together with the cast of young actors Eli Golden, Gabriella Uhl, JD McCrary, Frankie McNellis, Lindsey Blackwell, Jonathan Lengel, Ramon Reed, Nolen Dubuc, Luke Islam*,* Shechinah Mpumlwana*,* Kayleigh Cerezo, Wyatt Moss*,* Liam Wignall, and Khiyla Aynne.
Multiple Tony Award-winner Brown, known for his work on musicals like Parade, The Last Five Years, and The Bridges of Madison County, composed at least 3 new songs for the film, entitled “I’ve Been Waiting,” “The Bloodmaster,” and “It Would Be Funny.”
