“Mga Kuwento ni Lola Basyang” Musical to Stream this Weekend

PETA will be streaming Mga Kuwento ni Lola Basyang on its Facebook page this May 3 at 7pm!

The company will be presenting the touring show in South Korea in 2015, featuring two of Lola Basyang’s classic tales written by Severino Reyes — Ang Prinsipeng Mahaba ang Ilong and Ang Binibining Tumalo sa Mahal na Datu, with cast members cast members Gio Gahol, Joan Bugcat, Icee Po, Carlon Matobato, Paeng Sudayan, and Eun-suk Kim as Basyang. The script is written by Christine Bellen Ang, with the excerpt adaptation written by J-mee Katanyag.

Ang Prinsipeng Mahaba ang Ilong (The Prince with a Long Nose) features a young prince who was cursed with a very long nose embarking on a remarkable journey to discover the truth behind his unique appearance. In his adventure, he meets a friend who may be the one to put an end to his tireless journey.

Ang Binibining Tumalo sa Mahal na Datu (The Lady who Defeated a King) introduces Sharay, a servant’s daughter from Tondo who was put to a test by the King. A fan of riddles, the king presented her with three challenges which she needed to solve resourcefully in order to be with her prince.

This Korean excerpt production is directed by Maribel Legarda, with music by Noel Cabangon.
