‘Joseph the Dreamer’ Returns this November with New and Returning Cast Members
Trumpets’ Joseph the Dreamer returns for a limited run from November 6 to 22 at the Carlos P. Romulo Auditorium, RCBC Plaza, with Jordan Andrews and Neo Rivera alternating in the title role.
Both actors return to the role of Joseph after following similar paths when they first joined the show, having been cast as Judah, one of Joseph’s brothers, while also alternating as Joseph. Andrews first played Joseph in the show’s 2025 run, while Rivera served as understudy in 2020 before becoming an alternate for the role in 2022.
Andrews made his theater debut as a child in Miss Saigon and The King and I on Broadway and the West End. His subsequent Manila credits include Ang Huling El Bimbo, Tabing Ilog: The Musical, Rent, Shrek the Musical, and most recently, A Chorus Line, where he played Al DeLuca.
“Playing Joseph means being part of a story that might reach someone exactly when they need it,” says Andrews. “If I’ve done my job right, someone else goes home wearing their own coat of hope, integrity, and forgiveness.”
Rivera’s theater credits include Going Home to Christmas and The Quest for the Adarna. After taking a break from the stage, he returned as Fred in A Christmas Carol and most recently appeared as Phil in On Your Feet! The Story of Emilio and Gloria Estefan.
“Beyond the pressure of living up to our predecessors, what I choose to focus on is bringing my own interpretation of Joseph to life,” says Rivera.
Joining them as Jacob is Nonie Buencamino, whose recent stage credits include Balete, for which he won a Gawad Buhay Award, and Man of La Mancha, where he played Don Quixote.
Iya Villanueva and Naya Ambi alternate as Asenath and the musical’s principal narrator, while Lorenz Martinez plays the Pharaoh. Omar Uddin takes on the role of Potiphar, with Dippy Arceo and Jannah Baniasia alternating as Mrs. Potiphar.
Rapah Manalo and Boo Gabunada join the cast as Joseph’s brothers Judah and Reuben, respectively, alongside Luis Marcelo, Renz Bernardo, Sam Panlilio, Anton Posadas, Daniel Solis, Carlos Canlas, Gabo Tiongson, Antonio Valdez, and Matthew Barbers. Liam Nery and Enzo Isaac alternate as Young Joseph and Manasseh.
Julia Serad plays Joseph’s mother Rachel, who sings the ballad He Opens a Window. Completing the ensemble are Justine Narciso, Kathleen Francisco, Gabby Concepcion, Jim Ferrer, and Coleen Paz.
Based on the biblical story of Joseph, the musical follows Jacob’s favored son, whose brothers sell him into slavery out of jealousy. Joseph’s journey eventually takes him to Egypt, where his ability to interpret dreams changes the course of his life.
Following several runs throughout the 1990s and 2000s, the musical was reimagined for a new generation with original direction by Paolo Valenciano, musical direction by Myke Salomon, and choreography by MJ Arda.
Bernice Aspillaga serves as staging director for the 2026 run, with Jim Ferrer as assistant director and dance captain, and Jay Pangilinan as musical director.
Tickets are priced at ₱3,850 for Orchestra Center, ₱2,750 for Orchestra Sides, ₱2,500 for Loge Center, ₱2,200 for Loge Side, and ₱1,680 for Balcony. They are available through Ticket2Me and official showbuyers.
