GMG Productions Brings ‘Cirque Alice,’ ‘The Play That Goes Wrong’ to Manila
GMG Productions is set to bring Cirque Alice and The Play That Goes Wrong to The Theatre at Solaire for limited runs this October and November, respectively.
Inspired by Lewis Carroll’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, Cirque Alice, running from October 16 to 25, combines circus artistry, aerial performances, visual effects, and theatrical storytelling in a two-hour live experience for audiences of all ages.
The production features aerialists and acrobats, contortionists, puppetry, and special guest musical and comedic artists, accompanied by a soundtrack of newly arranged remixes of classical favourites.

Creative Producer Simon Painter said he was thrilled to bring Cirque Alice to Manila for its Philippine premiere.
“The world of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland provides the perfect canvas for an extraordinary cirque production,” Painter said.
“Filled with some of the most eccentric and larger-than-life characters ever created, the original stories have inspired a truly groundbreaking production that blends breathtaking circus artistry with theatrical storytelling. We can’t wait to share this magical experience with audiences in Manila.”
Executive Producer Tim Lawson said he was equally excited to introduce Filipino audiences to the internationally acclaimed production.

The creative team is led by Creative Directors Ash Jacks McCready and Kirsty Painter, with choreography by Dane Bates, costumes by Angela Aaron, lighting design by Hugo Mercier, and musical arrangements by Martin Raabe-Olsen and Marius Christiansen.
The Play That Goes Wrong, which won the Olivier Award for Best New Comedy in 2015 and the Tony Award for Best Scenic Design of a Play in 2017, will run from November 6 to 22. The comedy transforms theatrical disaster into collapsing scenery, slapstick, perfectly timed mishaps, and a series of production failures.
What begins as an amateur theater company’s attempt to stage a classic murder mystery quickly unravels as collapsing sets, disappearing props, forgotten lines, and a series of mishaps derail the performance.
Since its London premiere, The Play That Goes Wrong has been staged across the West End, Broadway, and more than 50 countries worldwide.

Candal also highlighted Harry Potter: A Yule Ball Celebration, which will run concurrently at The Space at Solaire.
