Samalamig Cold Readings with Guest Reader Reb Atadero Returns This September

Samalamig Cold Readings returns for the second installment of its third season on September 2, 7:30 PM at SinePop in Cubao. Reb Atadero returns as the event’s featured guest reader.

The lineup of one-act plays includes Konting Saya at Konting Luha, a coming-of-age drama by Kier Medina-Yonson; Laurence de Vera’s drama-thriller Bloodshed (‘O ang tamang panahon para magdanak ng dugo); and Transitory Affections, a romance by Ron Evangelista, whose play She’s Electric was featured in this year’s Virgin Labfest XXI.

The second-act featured reading will be Multong Mali, a new one-act play by Carlos Palanca Hall of Fame awardee Joshua Lim So. So is currently appearing as an exaggerated version of himself in Ang Babae Ang Babae sa Septic Tank 4: Oh Sht! It’s Live sa Theater!*.

The previous installment of Samalamig Cold Readings was held in May, which also featured Atadero as its guest reader.

Co-produced by Carl Cuevas and Gelo Esperanzate, Samalamig Cold Readings has established itself as a space for playwrights and audiences to engage with new theatrical works through live cold readings and post-reading discussions. Since its launch in 2024, the initiative has focused on presenting original scripts by aspiring, emerging, and professional Filipino playwrights while encouraging open dialogue between creators and audiences.

Each Samalamig Cold Readings session features selected scripts performed live by audience members alongside the featured artist. The readings are followed by a talkback, where playwrights receive immediate audience responses, technical feedback, and insights on their work.

Early bird tickets are available for ₱800 until September 1, while walk-in tickets will be available at the venue for ₱1,000. Tickets may be purchased through the group’s Google Form.
