Now Streaming: ‘Manhid’ Musical is Online
Today’s full local stream is a superhero musical! Part of CCP’s Buwan ng Wika showcase, the show is one of four full shows currently available to watch in full for free.
Inspired by comicbook superheroes, Manhid is set in a present day Philippines if the EDSA Revolution failed, featuring villains and superheroes, and a people afflicted with ‘Kamanhiran’ (apathy).
Starring Sandino Martin, Mark Anthony Grantos, Teetin Villanueva, Regina De Vera, Gold Villar, Kim Molina, Jean Judith Javier, KL Dizon, Ronah Rostata, Fredison Lo, Ricardo Magno, JV Ibesate, Mailes Kanapi, and Mayen Estanero, along with Ballet Philippines dancers Jean Marc Cordero, Katherine Trofeo, Richardson Yadao, Earl John Arisola, Cyril Aran Fallar, Emmanuelle Guillermo, Timothy Paul Cabrera, Rita Angela Winder, Denise Parungao, Kazier Policarpio, Ma. Celina Dofitas, Victor Maguad, and Erl Emmanuel Sorilla.
Written by Kanakan-Balintagos, with music compositions by Vincent de Jesus, this production was directed by Paul Alexander Morales and choreographed by Alden Lugnasin. Notably, hit OPM band Eraserheads helped compose the music for the original 1992 production. Music Director is Francis de Veyra, Set Designer is Zard Eguia, Costume Designer is Victor Ursabia, Lighting Designer is Roman Cruz, with live performances by Radioactive Sago Project during the shows.
