Virgin Labfest 2020 Will Stream Online

Virgin Labfest (VLF) 2020 Festival Director JK Anicoche just announced through a live Facebook video that this year’s festival will be going online.

Originally slated to run from June 10-28, 2020 at the CCP, the festival will be retaining its schedule as it streams online. Entitled Kapit, the festival will be featuring 9 new one-act plays (Main Performances), 3 revisited plays, and 6 new works for staged readings. 9 New One-Act Plays (Main Performances)

1. Tyron Casumpang’s Blackpink, directed by Jethro Tenorio
2. Dustin Celestino’s Doggy, directed by Roobak Valle
3. Jobert Grey Landeza’s Teacher Kit, directed by Adrienne Vergara
4. Norman Boquiren’s Mayang Bubot sa Tag-araw, directed by Mark Mirando
5. Juliene Mendoza’s Multiverse, directed by Fitz Edward Bitana
6. Luis Nario’s Gin Bilog, directed by James Harvey Estrada
7. Jay Crisostomo’s Dapit Hapon, directed by Sig Pecho
8. Floyd Tiogangco’s Pilot Episode, directed by Giancarlo Abrahan
9. Daryl Pasion’s Papaano Turuan ang Babae Humawak ng Baril, directed by Erika Estacio

3 Revisited Plays
1. UZ Eliserio’s Anak Ka Ng, directed by Maynard Manansala
2. Rick Patriarca’s Wanted: Male Boarders, directed by George de Jesus III
3. Herlyn Alegre’s Fangirl, directed by Charles Yee

6 New Works for Staged Readings
1. Buch Dacanay’s Jenny Li, directed by Nour Hooshmand
2. Dingdong Novenario’s Dominador Gonzales-National Artist, directed by Bunny Cadag
3. Claro De Los Reyes’ Mongoloida’s Casa de Pun, directed by Guelan Varela-Luarca
4. Nicko de Guzman’s Bagahe, directed by Joel Saracho
5. Rouchelle Dinglasan’s Lady Masters, directed by Joy Cerro
6. Bernice Dacara’s Matira Matibay, directed by Alon Segarra

According to Anicoche, all works that will be streamed this year will also be part of next year’s line-up. Three previously announced one-act plays, Juan Ekis’ ‘Nay, May Dala Akong Pancit, Anthony Kim Vergara’s The Boy-Boy and Friends Channel, and Bibeth Orteza’s Bituing Marikit will not be part of this year’s virtual line-up.

Four VLF Roundtables (with Directors, Designers, Stage, and Production Managers), the VLF Writing Fellowship Program, the VLF Playwrights’ Fair, and a new feature called VLF Cross-Media, from Page to Stage to Movies will also be available online.
