“Tick, Tick… Boom!” Netflix Adaptation to Star Andrew Garfield
Deadline reports that Andrew Garfield will be starring in the Netflix Adaptation of “Tick, Tick… Boom!” directed by Lin-Manuel Miranda. It will be Miranda’s feature directorial debut.
Garfield was last seen on stage as Prior Walter in the 2018 Broadway production of “Angels in America”, where he won the Tony Award for Best Actor in a Play. Further casting as well as an airing date have yet to be announced.
“Tick, Tick… Boom!” is an autobiographical Off-Broadway musical written by Jonathan Larson. Set in 1990, the story follows Jon, an aspiring composer in New York City who questions his life choices on the eve of his thirtieth birthday. Miranda himself starred in the 2014 staging of the Off-Broadway production, where he was joined by Leslie Odom, Jr. and Karen Olivo.
“Dear Evan Hansen” playwright Steven Levenson, who recently collaborated with Miranda on the TV mini-series “Fosse/Verdon”, is writing the screen adaptation.
