“Dekada ’70” Announces New and Returning Cast Members

Adapted to the stage and directed by Pat Valera, Lualhati Bautista’s “Dekada ’70” has just revealed its new and returning cast members.

Initially running from September 7-11, 2018 at Areté in Ateneo de Manila University, the musical follows the story of the Bartolome family who is caught in the middle of the tumultuous decade of the 1970’s– the bombing of Plaza Miranda, the suspension of the writ of the habeas corpus, the proclamation of Martial Law, and the unlawful arrests of political prisoners.

Stella Cañete Mendoza and Juliene Mendoza return as Amanda and Julian Bartolome, while Jon Abella, Abe Autea, Iggi Siasoco, Vincent Pajara, and Esteban Fulay Jr. return as the Bartolome brothers Jules, Bingo, Jason, Gani, and Em respectively. Boo Gabunada now alternates with Fulay Jr. as Em.

Gel Basa also returns as Gani’s love interest Evelyn, alternating with new cast member Justine Peña. Matel Patayon and Victoria Mina return as Mara and Tess respectively, while Paw Castillo and Juan Miguel Severo replace Nicco Manalo as the activist Willy.

Phi Palmos, Tope Kliatchko, and Rona Angeles also return as members of the ensemble. Joining them are new cast members Sabrina Basilio, Kathleen Mack, Ashe Uy, Jermaine Choa Peck, Eizel Marcelo, Jerome Dawis, Joshua Tayco, Vino Mabalot, Tristan Bite, Shaun Ocrisma, Khalil Tambio, and Ian Hermogenes.

The show returns to The Doreen Black Box, Areté in Ateneo de Manila University, Quezon City from February 21 to March 8, 2020. Tickets go on sale this November.
