Ballet Philippines is closing out its 2022 season with classic holiday offering, The Nutcracker.

The story follows the Stahlbaum family on Christmas Eve, the family gathered around the Christmas tree to unwrap presents. One of the children, Marie, receives a Nutcracker as a present. Marie later on wakes to an enchanted oversized world ruled by a Mouse King and filled with toys that have come to life, including her Nutcracker.

Composed by Peter Tchaikovsky, BP’s Artistic Director, Mikhail Martynyuk will choreograph the show in a ‘fresh version’ that will “uphold the motives of E.T.A Hoffman’s Nutcracker and The Mouse King” and “equally showcases the brilliant libretto of Marius Petipa.”

Rudolph Capongol and Ian Ocampo will be alternating as The Nutcracker Prince, while Jemima Reyes, Veronica Atienza, Dani Kleiner, and Regine Magbitang will be alternating as Lisa Marie and the Sugar Plum Fairy.

Music for the run’s performances will be performed live by the Manila Symphony Orchestra.

The show will be at the CCP Main Theater on December 17 and December 18. Tickets are now available via TicketWorld.
