I am also so excited to be collaborating with a creative team full of geniuses in their craft. I can’t wait to begin.”
“Sweeney Todd” is the final production in Atlantis’ 20th Anniversary Season. It was preceded by “Angels in America: Millennium Approaches”, “Beautiful: The Carole King Musical”, and the launch of the company’s new division Atlantis Imaginarium Young Theatre (AIYT) with its premiere production “Madagascar – A Musical Adventure”.
Stephen Sondheim and Hugh Wheeler’s “Sweeney Todd” celebrates its 40th anniversary this year. It won 8 Tony Awards, including Best Musical, when it opened on Broadway in 1979, as well as the Oliver Award for Best New Musical in 1980. The Broadway revival went on to win two more Tony Awards.
The musical will run from October 11 to 27, 2019 at The Theatre at Solaire. The production will also be moving to Singapore after the Manila engagement.
