Resorts World Manila in cooperation with Viva Entertainment, Inc. and Full House Theater Company, will be staging Bongga Ka Day as its next OPM musical this June.
With the music of 70’s OPM band Hotdog, Bongga Ka Day chronicles the life, loves and dreams of Annie Batungbakal, a dispatsadora (saleslady), who fought her way to the life she’s always dreamed of and to a social circle that she so wanted to be approved of.
The musical stars theater artists Gab Pangilinan (Ang Huling El Bimbo, Tabing Ilog the Musical), Anna Luna (Changing Partners, Lam-Ang), and Viva artist Nicole Omillo, who are set to alternate for the titular role.
Markki Stroem (Angels in America: Millennium Approaches, Side Show), will be playing Romer, while CJ Navato (Charot) will be playing Burn.
Jon Santos (Ang Huling El Bimbo, Rak of Aegis) will be playing Aurora Borlaez, and Lemuel Silvestre (Rak of Aegis, Ako si Josephine) will be playing Toots.
The show is written by Liza Magtoto, with musical direction by Myke Salomon. It will be directed by PETA’s Artistic Director, Maribel Legarda. Bongga Ka Day will open on June 26.
