‘Wonka’ Musical Film Full Cast Announced
As previously reported, Wonka, a musical film about the early life of young Willy Wonka, is in development.
The film stars Timothee Chalamet in the titular role and is a prequel to Roald Dahl’s famous children’s book, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. It is set to be released by Warner Brothers in cinemas on March 17, 2023.
Also starring in the film are Olivia Colman, Rowan Atkinson, and Sally Hawkins, reports Variety. They are joined by Keegan-Michael Key, Tom Davis, Simon Farnaby, Rich Fulcher, Kobna Holdbrook-Smith, Paterson Joseph, Matt Lucas, Colin O’Brien, Natasha Rothwell, Rakhee Thakrar, and Ellie White.
The origin story will focus on Wonka and his adventures prior to opening the world’s most famous chocolate factory. It is directed by Paul King and co-written by King and Simon Farnaby. According to The Hollywood Reporter, production already began in London last September 29, 2021.
