WATCH: Winners and Performances from the 10th Philstage Gawad Buhay Awards!
Celebrating its tenth year, the Philstage Gawad Buhay Awards is the first-ever industry awards exclusively for the performing arts.
Theater companies currently under Philstage are 9 Works Theatrical, Actor’s Actors Inc., Ballet Manila, Ballet Philippines, Philippine Ballet Theatre, Full House Theater Company (Resorts World Manila), Gantimpala Theater Foundation, PETA, Philippine Opera Company, Repertory Philippines, Red Turnip Theater, Stages, Tanghalang Pilipino, and Trumpets.
The awarding ceremony was held last night at the CCP Little Theater, hosted by Topper Fabregas and Meann Espinosa and directed by Menchu Lauchengco-Yulo and Michael Williams.
There were a number of performances from the evening, including dance numbers by Ballet Manila and Ballet Philippines, and big musical numbers by 9 Works Theatrical’s Newsies, Resorts World Manila’s Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, and PETA’s Ang Buhay ni Galileo, among many others. Tanghalang Pilipino’s Ang Pag-uusig and Ballet Manila’s Ibong Adarna won the most awards with 6, followed by REP’s Agnes of God and 9 Works Theatrical’s Newsies with 5. PETA President CB Garrucho and renowned choreographer Agnes Locsin were the recipients of the Natatanging Gawad Buhay Lifetime Achievement Award for their contributions to the field.
