Universal Pictures has just released a new trailer for the film adaptation of Wicked, directed by Jon M. Chu.

Over the past 24 hours, Chu has been posting some teasers on his Twitter account to prepare audiences for the big drop.

In this new trailer, we can hear Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo sing a snippet from Popular and Defying Gravity respectively, as well as see so many scenes that are familiar to the fans of the stage musical.

This follows the initial teaser trailer released last February, which offered audiences a first glimpse of the cast and the enchanting land of Oz on screen.

Wicked features Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba, Ariana Grande as Glinda, Jonathan Bailey as Fiyero, Marissa Bode as Nessarose, Ethan Slater as Boq, Michelle Yeoh as Madame Morrible, and Jeff Goldblum as the Wizard.

The cast also includes Pfannee and ShenShen, two conniving compatriots of Glinda played by Bowen Yang and Bronwyn James, and a new character created for the film, Miss Coddle, played by Keala Settle.

The movie musical adaptation will be split into two films, with the first one set to be released in US cinemas on November 27, and the second on November 26, 2025.

Winnie Holzman, who wrote the book, and Stephen Schwartz, who composed the music and lyrics for the stage musical, respectively, have both returned to write the script. Schwartz has said that the film will also include two new original songs.

Wicked tells the untold story of the witches of Oz, primarily focusing on Elphaba, the misunderstood Wicked Witch of the West, and Glinda the Good Witch. It explores themes of friendship, identity, and prejudice, offering a new perspective on the iconic characters and events of Oz.
