The first official movie trailer of Wicked has finally dropped! Audiences will be tickled to catch a glimpse of the cast, the enchanting land of Oz on screen, and to hear a snippet of Cynthia Erivo singing a portion of Defying Gravity.

Wicked will star Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba and Ariana Grande as Glinda. Joining them are Jonathan Bailey as Fiyero, Marissa Bode as Nessarose, Ethan Slater as Boq, Michelle Yeoh as Madame Morrible, and Jeff Goldblum as the Wizard. It is directed by Jon M. Chu.

The movie musical adaptation will be split into two films, the first one to be released in US cinemas on November 27 this year, and the second one in November 26, 2025.

Penning the script are the stage musical’s creators, Winnie Holzman (book) and Stephen Schwartz (music and lyrics). Schwartz says that the film will also include two new original songs.

Wicked tells the untold story of the witches of Oz, primarily focusing on Elphaba, the misunderstood Wicked Witch of the West, and Glinda the Good Witch. It explores themes of friendship, identity, and prejudice, offering a new perspective on the iconic characters and events of Oz.
