At the 97th Academy Awards, which streamed live on Disney+ at 8 AM today, Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande performed the evening’s opening medley.

The performance featured Somewhere Over the Rainbow from the 1939 film The Wizard of Oz, sung by Grande; Home from the 1975 Broadway musical The Wiz, performed by Erivo; and finally, Defying Gravity, performed as a duet by Erivo and Grande.

Out of its ten Oscar nominations, Wicked won two—Production Design and Costume Design. Notably, Paul Tazewell made history as the first Black man to win the Oscar for Best Costume Design. Another musical film, Emilia Pérez, also secured two wins out of its 13 nominations (the most of any film this year)—Best Supporting Actress for Zoe Saldaña and Best Original Song for El Mal.

You can watch the opening performance in Deadline Hollywood‘s video below.
