The stage production opened at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre on Broadway in April 2016 and closed on January 5, 2020. It reopened on September 2021 for a limited run starring Bareilles as Jenna mainly to produce the live stage recording. It was nominated for 4 Tony Awards including Best Musical and Best Musical Score by Bareilles.
