Triple Threats Concert Series Puts the Spotlight on The Ensemble this August
CCP’s Triple Threat Concert Series started back in 2013 with the title Triple Threats: Leading Men and Women in Philippine Musical Theater. The first 3 artists who were featured in their very own solo concerts at the CCP Little Theater were theater stalwarts Nonie Buencamino, Audie Gemora, and Menchu Lauchengco-Yulo. In 2014, the series came back with the same theme, this time featuring Sheila Francisco, Michael Williams, and Bituin Escalante. In 2015, the title was changed to Triple Threats: Composers, highlighting 3 of today’s best Filipino composers: Jesse Lucas, Vincent de Jesus, and Rony Fortich.
This year, the concert series continues with Triple Threats: The Ensemble, featuring 8 of the country’s most talented and fresh-faced triple threats from the English musical theatre scene: Nacho Tambunting, Kyla Rivera, George Schulze, Maronne Cruz, Steven Hotchkiss, Abi Sulit, Vince Lim, and Chinie Concepcion. Special guests include Carla Guevara Laforteza, Shiela Valderrama-Martinez, Jay Valencia Glorioso, Sweet Plantado Tiongson, Lani Mabilangan Ligot, Lorenz Martinez, Joaquin Pedro Valdes, and Audie Gemora.
The show will be directed by Tanghalang Pilipino’s Associate Director, Liesl Batucan, with musical direction and arrangements by Ejay Yatco.
