After being pushed back due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Broadway League and American Theatre Wing has finally announced an air date for the 2019-2020 Broadway season. The 74th Annual Tony Awards will be streaming on September 26, 7pm ET (September 27, 7am Philippine Standard Time), live on Paramount+.

Immediately following the awarding ceremony is The Tony Awards Present: Broadway’s Back, on September 26, 9:00 to 11:00 pm ET, a live concert event featuring Broadway entertainers and Tony Award-winners reuniting on stage to perform beloved Broadway classics.

The concert will celebrate the re-opening of Broadway with special performances from the three Tony-nominated Best Musical contenders, followed by the live presentation of three Tony Awards, including Best Play, Best Revival of a Play, and Best Musical. Other winners will be celebrated throughout the broadcast. It will air on the US television network CBS and will stream live and on demand on Paramount+ and on the CBS app.

Tony Award nominations were announced last October, with Jagged Little Pill garnering the most number of nominations at 15, and Moulin Rouge! in second–including Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role in a Musical for Aaron Tveit, the only person nominated in his category this year.
