“Sandosenang Sapatos” Musical will Stream Online
Tanghalang Pilipino’s December 2013 production of Sandosenang Sapatos will be streaming online starting on June 12!
The musical is based on a children’s story written by Dr. Luis Gatmaitan, adapted for the stage by Layeta Bucoy and directed by Tuxqs Rutaquio, who also serves as set designer and co-costume designer. It follows wheelchair-bound Susie, who dreams of fulfilling her father’s dream of having a ballerina for a daughter. The book is now a Hiyas Classic, and its premium edition is now available for purchase through OMF Publishing.
Sandosenang Sapatos was staged at the CCP Studio Theater on July 2013, and December 2013 and 2014. The streamed production will feature Trixie Esteban as Susie, May Bayot as Nanay, Jonathan Tadioan as Tatay, Arya Herrera as Ate Karina, Hazel Maranan and Raquel Pareño as Diwata, Aldo Vencilao as Bluey, Antonette Go as Pinky, Lhorvie Ann Nuevo as Sequins, JV Ibesate as Sandals, Marco Viaña as Red, Bunny Cadag as Yellowy, Doray Dayao as Whitey, and Remus Villanueva as Maong.
Other members of the creative team include Noel Cabangon (composer), Joed Balsamo (co-composer, co-arranger, musical director), John Batalla (lighting designer), TJ Ramos (sound designer/guitarist), Rocky Gathercole and James Reyes (costume designers), and Gerald Mercado (choreographer).

The online initiative is part of iWant’s Pantawid ng Tanghalan, a fundraising project that aims to help Tanghalang Pilipino in continuing to provide the public with artistic and socially relevant content, even amidst the Covid-19 pandemic. The streaming project is in collaboration with Tanghalang Pilipino, CCP, and iWant.
