‘Pingkian: Isang Musikal’ Proshot to Stream Online

Tanghalang Pilipino has just announced that the proshot of Pingkian: Isang Musikal is set to stream for free for one time only!

Pingkian: Isang Musikal, whose extended run closed at the GSIS Theater last April, is streaming on May 26 at 6:30pm on Tanghalang Pilipino’s Facebook page. The show opened last March 1, 2024 at the CCP Black Box Theater.

Playing the titular role is Vic Robinson as Emilio Jacinto/Pingkian. Joining him are Gab Pangilinan as Catalina de Jesus/Florencio Reyes, Bituin Escalante as Josefa Dizon, Kakki Teodoro as Jose Rizal, Paw Castillo as Andres Bonifacio, Almond Bolante as Pio Valenzuela, Joshua Cadeliña as Lucio/Isyo, and Marco Viaña as Duktor.

Completing the cast are Chan Rabutazo, VJ Cortel, Roby Malubay, Jude Hinumdum, Paula Paguio, Roxy Aldiosa, Jam Binay, Laui Guico, EJ Pepito, Jonathan Tadioan, Lhorvie Nuevo-Tadioan, Mark Lorenz, Sarah Monay, and Edrick Alcontado as members of the ensemble.

Written by Juan Ekis, with guidance from National Artist for Literature Virgilio Almario, and music, musical direction, and musical arrangement Ejay Yatco, Pingkian: Isang Musikal is a full-length musical depicting the life of Emilio Jacinto from the tail end of the Philippine revolution to the start of the Philippine-American war. It follows the trials and triumphs of a nation on the brink of revolution as Jacinto navigates the complexities of war with an unwavering commitment to freedom.

The show is directed by Jenny Jamora. Also on the creative team are Jomelle Era (choreography), Carlo Villafuerte Pagunaling (production design), D Cortezano (lighting design), GA Fallarme (projection design), TJ Ramos (sound design and engineering), Kat Batara (dramaturgy), Kiefer Sison (technical direction), and Toni Go-Yadao (assistant direction).
