Now Streaming: ‘Sabel: Love and Passion’ Dance Musical Production
Trumpets Inc. is streaming Sabel: Love and Passion over on their YouTube channel as part of Father’s Festival, an online tribute that celebrates director Freddie Santos’ numerous productions.
Sabel: Love and Passion, which had its world premiere at The Theatre at Solaire last April 30, 2015, was written (book and lyrics) and directed by Santos, with musical direction by Louie Ocampo. The production was inspired by a series of Sabel paintings by National Artist for Visual Arts, Ben Cabrera.
The story follows a dynamic young woman who loved, above all, to dance. From the depths of her depression to the glory of her personal triumph, it was dance that helped hold her life together and ultimately regain her soul.
The cast stars Philippine Ballet Theatre’s Bianca Trocino and Iza Calzado, who both play the titular role. They are joined by Aicelle Santos, Audie Gemora, Tim Pavino, Antoinette Taus, Bo Cerrudo, and Philippine Ballet Theatre’s Lemuel Capa, Ian Ocampo, Matthew Davo, Shaira Comeros, Kim Abrogena, Gladys Baybayan, Marika Desembrana, Joni Galeste, Regina Magbitang, Julafer Fegarido, Crimson Guirjem, Jimmy Lumba, and Peter San Juan.
Other members of the creative team include Philippine Ballet Theatre’s Artistic Director Ronilo Jaynario (choreographer), Joselito Tecson (set designer), and Shax Siasoco (lighting designer).
