If you’re in the mood for something Dickensian to watch that isn’t an adaptation of A Christmas Carol, you might want to check out this 2014-filmed staging of the author’s classic ‘Great Expectations’.

The story follows the childhood and young adult years of Pip, a blacksmith apprentice living in a country village. He suddenly comes into large sums of money from a mysterious benefactor, moving to London to join high society.

Adapted by Jo Clifford, the show was conceived and directed by Graham McLaren. Set designer is Robin Peoples, costume designer is McLaren and Annie Gosney, lighting deign by Kai Fischer, and original score by Simon Slater.

The cast includes Jack Ellis as Jaggers, Chris Ellison as Magwitch, Paula Wilcox as Miss Havisham, Paul Nivison as the Adult Pip, Grace Rowe as Estella, Taylor Jay-Davies as Young Pip, Katy Allen as Camilla Pocket, Gareth Glen, Josh Elwell, Isabelle Joss, Suzanne Robertson, James Vaughan, and Rhys Warrington.
