Now Streaming: ‘Beauty and the Beast’ with Josh Groban and H.E.R. is Online
The 30th anniversary special of Disney’s Beauty and Beast is now streaming on Disney+.
Award-winning musician H.E.R. is playing Belle alongside Josh Groban as the Beast. They are joined by Joshua Henry as Gaston, Martin Short as Lumiere, David Alan Grier as Cogsworth, Shania Twain as Mrs. Potts, Leo Abelo Perry as Chip, Rizwan Manji as LeFou, Jon Jon Briones as Maurice, and Rita Moreno as the narrator.
As previously reported, the two-hour special is a reimagining of Beauty and the Beast including a screening of the film and live never-before-seen musical performances, and brand new sets and costumes inspired by the story. Each performance pays tribute to the animated classic while also adding new elements for the audience to enjoy.
Beauty and the Beast was the first animated feature to receive an Academy Award nomination for Best Picture. With music by Alan Menken and lyrics by the late Howard Ashman, the film features iconic songs such as “Belle,” “Be Our Guest,” “Something There,” and the titular song. The film was adapted into a Broadway musical in 1994 and was nominated for nine Tony Awards, winning for Best Costume Design. The film was adapted into a live-action version in 2017.
The special was taped in front of a live audience at Disney Studios and aired on ABC on December 15 on ABC before being released to Disney+.
The official soundtrack of the special is also now on Spotify.
