“Matilda” Principal Cast Announced!
GMG Productions has just announced the principal cast for the Royal Shakespeare Company’s (RSC) production of Matilda!
Adapted to the stage by Dennis Kelly (book), with Tim Minchin (music & lyrics), Matilda is based on the popular book by Roald Dahl about an extraordinary little girl who, with her vivid imagination and sharp mind, take charge of her destiny.
Leading the pack for the international cast are Zara Yazbek Polito, Sofia Poston, and Zoe Modlinne, the three young actresses who will be alternating for the role of Matilda. Haley Flaherty, who will be playing Miss Honey, and Hayden Tee, who will be playing Miss Trunchbull, will both reprising the roles that they played in the West End.
Stephen Jubber will be playing Mr. Wormwood, Claire Taylor will be playing Mrs. Wormwood, and Nompumelelo Mayiyane will be playing Mrs. Phelps.
The company has also just announced a season extension for the production’s Manila leg, which will now be running at The Theatre at Solaire until March 22, 2020.
The show is directed by Tony Award winner Matthew Warchus, with sets and costumes by Tony Award winner Rob Howell, choreography by Peter Darling, orchestrations, additional music and musical supervision by Christopher Nightingale, lighting by Tony Award winner Hugh Vanstone, and sound by Simon Baker.
The show opens on March 5 at The Theatre at Solaire.
