“Matilda” Extends for One More Week
The Royal Shakespeare Company’s (RSC) production of Matilda is set to open on March 5, 2020 at the Theatre at Solaire. Produced by GMG Theatrical Productions, it’s the international touring production that follows last year’s Cats starring Joanna Ampil as Grizabella.
Audiences will be able to enjoy this production in Manila for one more additional week, now extending its run until March 22, 2020. They will also be adding a matinee performance on Wednesday, March 18, where all tickets–whether balcony or orchestra level–are sold for Php 2,200.00 each.
Adapted to the stage by Dennis Kelly (book), with Tim Minchin (music & lyrics), Matilda is based on the popular book by Roald Dahl about an extraordinary little girl who, with her vivid imagination and sharp mind, take charge of her destiny.
Directed by Tony Award winner Matthew Warchus, the production has sets and costumes by Tony Award winner Rob Howell, with choreography by Peter Darling, orchestrations, additional music and musical supervision by Christopher Nightingale, lighting by Tony Award winner Hugh Vanstone, and sound by Simon Baker.
In 2011, the production opened on the West End, and on Broadway in 2013. It won 5 Tony Awards and 7 Olivier Awards, including Best Musical.
