Cast Announced for ‘Mabining Mandirigma’, ‘Aurelio Sedisyoso’
As previously reported, Monique Wilson will be playing the role of Apolinario Mabini when “Mabining Mandirigma” returns this year. The role was previously played by Delphine Buencamino (2015) and Liesl Batucan (2016). David Ezra, on the other hand, will be reprising his role as Aurelio Tolentino in “Aurelio Sedisyoso.” Both musicals will be running at the CCP Little Theater this August.
Joining Wilson as Emilio Aguinaldo is Arman Ferrer, who is also reprising the role he has played since the musical first opened. Jamie Wilson will be joining the cast of Aurelio Sedisyoso as “Tikbalang,” a role previously played by Baron Geisler and Jonathan Tadioan.
Guest actors for both productions include Mia Bolaños, Paw Castillo, Lian Silverio, Remus Villanueva, Blanche Buhia, Phi Palmos, Jasper Cabra, Kristofer Kliatchko, Francis Cruz, and Paul Clark. Members from the Tanghalang Pilipino Actors Company– Jonathan Tadioan, JV Ibesate, Lhorvie Ann Nuevo, Joshua Tayco, Monique Nellas, and Eunice Pacia, will also be joining both productions.
“Mabining Mandirigma”, the steampunk musical about the life of Apolinario Mabini, starts off in 1898, where Mabini acts as Adviser, Cabinet President, and first Foreign Minister to President Aguinaldo. He displays a warrior spirit that belies his paralytic body and a principled character that could not be compromised. “Aurelio Sedisyoso”, the rock sarswela about the life of playwright Aurelio Tolentino, is set from 1902-1915 during the third phase of the Philippine revolution.
Both productions are helmed by the same creative team– Chris Millado serves as director, with book and lyrics by Nicanor Tiongson, music by Joed Balsamo, and set design by Toym Imao.
“Mabining Mandirigma” will open on August 16, while “Aurelio Sedisyoso” will open on August 23. Both productions will close on September 1. The show is open for showbuying. Interested parties may contact Enzo Marco at 0999-8843821.
