Relive Your Passion PH is set to stream an online script reading of Christa I. De La Cruz’s one-act play, Kalayaan this Saturday, August 28 at 7pm.

The play is about a lesbian couple, Melissa and Lia, who are stuck in Makati traffic along Kalayaan Avenue while discussing the various issues in their seven-year relationship.

It was conceived during the Virgin Labfest Writing Fellowship under Glenn Sevilla Mas in 2013 and was first staged for a showcase at the Cultural Center of the Philippines under the direction of Dennis Marasigan.

This online reading features Pau Benitez and Hariette Mozelle and is directed by John Mark Yap.

The production and creative team members include Katte Sabate (production manager), Rio Tanchuling (stage manager), Karlo Erfe (OBS operator), Jairus Francisco (graphics designer), and JC Villareal (sound designer).

Kalayaan will be the fourth and last play for August, under the theme Saplot. The plays described as “sumasalamin sa iba’t ibang kulay ng buhay na patuloy na tinatahak ng lahat ng uri ng personalidad sa mundo.”

The other plays featured this month were Labada by Andrew Clete, directed by Bunny Cadag, Mga Modernong Pagmamahalan sa Panahon ng Nakaambang Himagsikan by Abet Cruz, directed by Dax Carnay, and Tsekwa by Roderick Frago, directed by George de Jesus.

Relive Your Passion PH, a group of theater practitioners committed to showcasing Filipino plays and talent, have organized a weekly reading of plays written by Filipino playwrights and performed by familiar faces.

You can watch Kalayaan on Relive Your Passion PH’s Facebook page.
