‘Jagged Little Pill’ Musical to Get a Novel
Alanis Morissette’s Jagged Little Pill album-turned musical-is set to have a novel adaptation.
The novelization will be headed by Young Adult author Eric Smith who will work closely with Morissette and her Jagged Little Pill collaborators Glen Ballard and Diablo Cody (who wrote the book of the musical).
Jagged Little Pill: The Novel will follow the lives of five teenagers as they overcome their individual issues. After attending a party, the five lives of these teenagers intertwined when Bella, became a victim of sexual assault. The novel will show each individual’s perspective as they try to surpass the incident while figuring out who the perpetrator could be and the possibility that he gets away with it.
The musical, which opened on Broadway in 2019, tells the story of a picture-perfect family and their two teenage kids. Their once quiet life is turned upside down when the family needed to confront pressing societal issues they were not ready to overcome.
The Broadway musical was written by Diablo Cody, with lyrics by Alanis Morissette, and music by Morissette and Glen Ballard.
The book is reported to be released on April 26, 2022.
