‘Gregoria Lakambini’ Returns This November at the Proscenium Theater

Tanghalang Pilipino’s Gregoria Lakambini: A Pinay Pop Musical returns to the stage this November, with Marynor Madamesila reprising the titular role of Gregoria de Jesus.

The musical will run from November 13 to 29 at the Proscenium Theater in Rockwell, Makati, as the third production in Tanghalang Pilipino’s 40th performance season. It follows Sayaw ng mga Ilaw, which concluded its run this October, and will be followed by Guelan Varela-Luarca’s Filipino translation and staging of William Shakespeare’s Richard II, titled Ricardo Segundo, in February 2027.

Told through the sound and energy of a P-pop girl group, Gregoria Lakambini traces the life of Gregoria de Jesus, from her youth in Caloocan to becoming the Lakambini of the Katipunan and standing alongside Andres Bonifacio during the Philippine Revolution. The musical explores her life as a revolutionary, wife, and mother, bringing a historical figure often relegated to the margins of the story to center stage.

The entire cast is returning to reprise their roles: Marynor Madamesila as Gregoria de Jesus; Anya Evangelista as Andres Bonifacio and a member of the ensemble; Heart Puyong as Emilio Aguinaldo and a member of the ensemble; Sofia Sacaguing as Julio Nakpil and a member of the ensemble; Sarah Monay as Gregoria de Jesus understudy and a member of the ensemble; and Ynna Rafa and Murline Uddin as members of the ensemble. Frances Marie joins the production as swing.
