‘Grace’ by Floy Quintos Announces Final Extension

Grace has just announced a final extension, now running for an additional two shows on June 23 at 3 PM and 8 PM at the PMCS Blackbox Theater, Circuit Makati. The play, which opened on May 25 and was initially slated to close on June 16, is Floy Quintos’ swan song, completed shortly before his unfortunate passing on April 27 of this year.

Based on the true story of Sister Teresita “Teresing” Castillo, then a novice nun, the play explores her claims of encountering the devil and later witnessing the Virgin Mother appearing to her in the convent of the Discalced Carmelites in Lipa Carmel, Batangas, as Mary, Mediatrix of All Grace. Her account, along with the alleged apparitions and miracles, ignited a national controversy in 1948 that remains unresolved and continues to haunt the Philippine church and its faithful today.

The cast features Stella Cañete-Mendoza as Teresita Castillo, Shamaine Centenera-Buencamino as Mother Cecilia of Jesus, Frances Makil-Ignacio as Sister Agatha, Missy Maramara as Sister Lucia, Matel Patayon as Sister/Nurse, Leo Rialp as Monsignor Egidio Vagnozzi, Dennis Marasigan as Monsignor Rufino Santos, Nelsito Gomez as Father Angel de Blas, Jojo Cayabyab as Monsignor Alfredo, and Raphne Catorce as Guillermo.

Directed by Dexter M. Santos, this production marks his seventh collaboration with Quintos. Their previous works include Collection (Dulaang UP, 2013), Ang Nawalang Kapatid (Dulaang UP, 2014), Ang Huling Lagda ni Apolinario Mabini (Dulaang UP, 2014), Angry Christ (UP Playwrights’ Theatre, 2017), The Kundiman Party (UP Playwrights’ Theatre, 2018), and The Reconciliation Dinner (Dulaang UP, 2022).

Joining Quintos and Santos on the artistic team are Mitoy Sta. Ana (Production Design), John Batalla (Lighting Designer), Steven Tansiongco (Graphic and Video Designer), Arvy Dimaculangan (Music and Sound Designer), Mikko Angeles (Assistant Director & Video Publicity), Marvin Olaes (Dramaturg and Publicity Manager), Davidson Oliveros (Dramaturg and Publicity Manager), and Meliton Roxas, Jr. (Technical Director).

Tickets are available through Ticket2Me.
