Death Note: The Musical, which had its English language premiere with three concerts at The London Palladium from August 21 to 22, has just concluded its 3-performance run.

The cast features Joaquin Pedro Valdes as Light, Mayli McCann as Misa, Dean John-Wilson as L, Adam Pascal as Ryuk, Aimie Atkinson as Rem, Rachel Clare Chan as Sayu, and Christian Ray Marbella as Soichiro.

They are joined by ensemble cast members Felipe Bejarano, Charlotte Coggin, Jade Copas, Eu Jin Hwang, Yojiro Ichikawa, Deena Kapadia, David Kar-Hing Lee, Nick Len, Jasmine Leung, Jojo Meredith, Marcel Li-Ping, and Janine Somcio.

The story follows Light Yagami, a bright but dissatisfied high school student in Tokyo who comes across a discarded notebook owned by Ryuk, a mythological god of death. Discovering he can kill anyone by just writing their names in the supernatural notebook, Light takes justice into his own hands by filling the notebook with names of the nation’s most wanted criminals. But a detective only known as “L” is soon tracking him down…

Based on the Japanese Manga series by Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata, Death Note: The Musical features music by Frank Wildhorn, lyrics by Jack Murphy and a book by Ivan Menchell. It is directed and choreographed by Nick Winston.

The creative team also includes Alex Sarmiento (associate director and choreographer), Kimie Nakano (costume designer), Katy Richardson (musical supervisor), Chris Ma (musical director), Jason Howland (orchestrator), Justin Williams (designer), Ben Cracknell (lighting designer), Ben Harrison (sound designer), and Harry Blumenau (casting director).

It has also been announced that the show will be transferring to the West End’s Lyric Theatre from September 7 to 10 for 6 performances only. Joaquin Pedro Valdes and Dean John-Wilson will be reprising their roles as Light and L respectively, together with Aimie Atkinson, Rachel Clare Chan, and Christian Ray Marbella, who will also be reprising their roles. Georgie Maguire will be taking over the role of Ryuk and Jessica Lee will be taking over the role of Misa. Carl Man will join as alternate L.
