‘Clueless The Musical’ Coming to the UK in 2024
Clueless The Musical, a new production based on the 1995 film of the same name starring Alicia Silverstone as Cher, is coming to the UK in 2024.
Amy Heckerling, who wrote and directed the film, returns to write the book of the show, with Sarna Lapine directing. A 2018 production starring Dove Cameron as Cher was originally staged as a jukebox musical Off-Broadway, reimagining 90’s hits as parodies and monologues. The 2024 version will have music by KT Tunstall and lyrics by Glenn Slater.
Set in the 1990’s, the story follows Cher, the most popular student in her Beverly Hills High School who is renowned for her unique talent at finding love for others. But she’s about to embark on her biggest project yet – making over her awkward new friend, Tai, and setting her up with the most handsome boy in school. Will Cher come to see the error of her ways? Clueless is loosely based on Jane Austen’s 1815 novel Emma.
The production is set for a developmental run at the Churchill Theatre in Bromley from February 12 to 24, 2024.
