Cast of Hamilton Celebrates Rent’s 20th Anniversary

In this video by Javier Muñoz, the cast of Hamilton celebrated Rent’s anniversary last April 29 by singing one of the most popular songs from the musical, “Seasons of Love”. Muñoz plays Hamilton as an alternate to creator and leading man Lin-Manuel Miranda.

Rent debuted in Broadway in 1996 and ran until September 7, 2008, making it the eleventh longest-running Broadway show. It won multiple awards, such as the Pulitzer Prize for Drama (1996), and Tony Awards for Best Musical, Best Score, and Best Book. Members of the original cast include Adam Pascal, Taye Diggs, Anthony Rapp, and Idina Menzel.

The hamiltonmusical Instagram account also posted this beautiful picture with lyrics to Rent’s “What You Own”. What a fitting tribute.
