‘Ang Sistema ni Propesor Tuko’ to be Staged as Brunch Theater in Batangas This October
Teatro B and Lipa Actors Company are set to stage Al Santos’ Ang Sistema ni Propesor Tuko this October as the second production in their locally produced Brunch Theater series in Batangas.
The production follows Gusto Ko Nang Bumitaw: Back to Back to Back Bitter Stories from Ampalaya Monologues, which ran from February to April 2026 at Hashtag Coffee Capitol Site. The Brunch Theater series presents plays in an intimate café setting, with audiences watching the performances over brunch and coffee.
For Ang Sistema ni Propesor Tuko, Hashtag Coffee Capitol Site will be transformed into a classroom, bringing audiences into the setting of Santos’ one-act comedy.
Written in 1980, Ang Sistema ni Propesor Tuko takes a humorous look at the Philippine educational system, particularly its flaws and absurdities as experienced by teachers and students. Directed by Peregrine Santiago, the production is being staged during Teachers’ Month and also serves as a tribute to educators and the lasting impact they have on their students.
Anton Cedric Bautista and Loida de la Peña alternate in the titular role of Propesor Tuko. Bautista is a licensed physician, theater artist, and content creator, while de la Peña is a film actress and full-time mother making her theatrical debut.
The all-Batangueño cast also features Dylan Gutierrez and Julius Aala alternating as Bodyok, Wilson Socorro and Vince Conrad alternating as Kiko, Mark Daniel Lunar and Ken Del Rosario alternating as Bondying, and Nyx Mendoza as Ningning.
Ang Sistema ni Propesor Tuko will run at Hashtag Coffee Capitol Site in Batangas City on October 10 at 10:30 AM; October 11 and 17 at 10:30 AM and 4:30 PM; and October 18 at 10:30 AM.
Tickets are priced at P500. For reservations, contact Teatro B at 0917 559 4192.
