‘An Mga Voyador’ from Virgin Labfest Bikol Gets Naga City Staging This September
Sangre de Naga Theater Company is set to stage An Mga Voyador, a play by Gene Rey Francisco that was first presented as one of eight featured works in the inaugural Virgin Labfest Bikol, held in Sorsogon City in July 2026. The production will run from September 4 to 6 at the Garden Classhouse in Naga City, ahead of the Peñafrancia Festival.
Set on the eve of the fluvial procession, An Mga Voyador follows a group of voyadores as they attempt to assemble the required members for their sacred voyage.
The play is written by Naga City-based singer-songwriter Gene Rey Francisco and directed by Bikolano playwright Jobert Grey Landeza.
The cast features Mark Eduardo Cea, John Carlo Ocaya, Ronel Madrilejos, Gy Hallare, and John Nehemiah Lopez.
An Mga Voyador is the second play from this year’s Virgin Labfest Bikol known to be receiving its own staging outside the festival, following Jan Jan Gernale Mohametano’s Malasimbo, which is set to run in Sorsogon this September.
Established in 2015, Sangre de Naga is a community-based theater organization from Naga City. The production is being staged with the Theater Sector of the Naga City Arts and Culture Coalition Inc., in partnership with Garden Cafe.
A portion of the production’s proceeds will go toward rehabilitation programs for Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) in Naga City.
An Mga Voyador will run from September 4 to 6 at the Garden Classhouse in Naga City. The September 4 premiere gala at 6 PM is priced at ₱1,000. A student show will be held on September 5 at 4 PM, with tickets priced at ₱300, while gala performances on September 5 and 6 at 6 PM are priced at ₱800.
