IdeaFirst Live has just announced that Lance Reblando and Chamyto will alternate in the role of Barbs in Die Beautiful: The Musical.
In the original Die Beautiful film, Cedrick Juan was initially cast as Barbs before the role ultimately went to Christian Bables. Years later, when the spin-off Born Beautiful went into production, Bables was set to reprise the character before the role ultimately went to Martin del Rosario.
Now, as Die Beautiful is adapted for the stage, the Barbs legacy continues with two new performers taking on the role.
Lance Reblando, who recently played Julia in PETA’s Walang Aray, will take on the role of Barbs, Trisha Echeverria’s loyal best friend. Sharing the role is Chamyto, currently seen as Bambi in GMA’s primetime series The Master Cutter. The company says both performers were selected through a rigorous audition process.
In both Die Beautiful and Born Beautiful, Barbs serves as one of Trisha’s closest confidants, providing moments of humor while remaining a steadfast source of support. The character became one of the franchise’s most recognizable supporting roles through Bables’ performance in the original film, making the stage casting one of the musical’s most closely watched announcements.
They join previously announced lead actors Maxie Andreison and Viñas Deluxe, who will alternate in the role of Trisha Echeverria.
Based on the 2016 film, Die Beautiful: The Musical reimagines Trisha’s story for the stage as a celebration of friendship, chosen family, identity, resilience, and the courage to live beautifully and authentically. The musical is written by Jun Robles Lana and Elmer Gatchalian, with music by Vince Lim and direction by Tuxqs Rutaquio.
The show is scheduled to open in June 2027 at the Proscenium Theater in Rockwell, Makati. Further details about the full cast, creative team, and ticketing will be announced soon.
