‘Passion and Purpose’ by the Philippine Ballet Theatre Goes to Alabang This September
For the first time, Philippine Ballet Theatre (PBT), the country’s National Performing Arts Company for Dance, will perform in southern Metro Manila through Passion and Purpose, a special fundraising event presented by Insular Life.
The one-night-only performance will take place at Tanghalang Haribon, Insular Life, in Alabang on September 20, 2026, at 6:00 PM.
The evening brings together Filipino dance, Original Pilipino Music (OPM), and a fundraising initiative supporting education and the arts.
At the heart of the program is On the Wings of Song, also known as the “Jose Mari Chan Suite,” one of PBT’s signature mixed-bill productions. The work celebrates the music of Jose Mari Chan through ballet and contemporary movement.
The production features dance interpretations of some of Chan’s best-known songs, including “Please Be Careful With My Heart,” “Can We Just Stop and Talk Awhile,” “Perhaps Love,” “Beautiful Girl,” “Movie Fan,” and “Tsuper ng Aking Buhay,” among others. Through these works, the company explores themes of Filipino warmth, romance, humor, and family life.
Company artist Gabrielle Jaynario shared what audiences can expect from the performance.
“Passion and Purpose will allow the audience an opportunity to become grounded for a moment and revisit our local culture. Everyday stories, all told through a fusion of Filipino song and dance, are interesting ways to capture the Filipino spirit. Our JMC Suite is a crowd favorite, always eliciting heartwarming applause because of its relatability.”
Joining the program is Hampton Court Ballet School, which will present a special guest performance featuring young dancers from Muntinlupa City in contemporary ballet works choreographed by Fred Fernandez.
Beyond the performances, Passion and Purpose also serves as a fundraising initiative benefiting Insular Life’s Education Program for the Youth, Philippine Ballet Theatre’s Adopt-a-Dancer Program, and the Hampton Court Ballet School Scholarship Fund.
Organizers hope the event will further establish Muntinlupa City as an emerging center for arts and culture while creating more opportunities for young artists and students.
Tickets are priced at ₱2,500 for Front Orchestra Center and Front Orchestra Side seats, ₱2,000 for Back Orchestra Center, ₱1,500 for Back Orchestra Side, and ₱1,000 for Balcony seats, and are available through Ticketmelon.
