‘Bongga Ka, ‘Day!’ Announces Open Auditions
As previously reported, Bongga Ka, ‘Day!: The Annie Batungbakal Musical is set to be Newport World Resorts’ next production, slated for September 2026.
Newport World Resorts, in association with VIVA Communications and The Philippine STAR, reunites following Bagets The Musical to stage a new original production inspired by the music of ’70s Filipino band Hotdog.
Auditions are now open for performers of all genders, aged 18 and above, who can sing, act, and dance. The first round of auditions will be held on May 6 at the PETA Theater Center in Quezon City, with callbacks scheduled on May 8.
Interested applicants must accomplish the official audition form at https://bit.ly/BKDTABMAudition on or before April 30 at 5 p.m., or until slots are filled. Those who successfully secure a slot will receive their audition schedule via email on May 3. Walk-ins will not be accommodated.
The show features a wide range of roles, including leads Annie, Romer, and Burn, as well as supporting characters such as Iste Batungbakal, Toots, and Aurora Pasion. The ensemble will portray a diverse mix of Coco Banana regulars.
Rehearsals will run from July to August 2026 at the PETA Theater Center, and in September 2026 at the Newport Performing Arts Theater. Bongga Ka, ‘Day!: The Annie Batungbakal Musical is scheduled to run from September to October 2026, with performances every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
Set in 1970s Manila, the musical draws from iconic Hotdog hits. It follows an ambitious sales clerk who sneaks into the glamorous disco scene to chase her dream of becoming a fashion designer—risking losing herself in the process.
