‘Rent’ Announces Final Extension
9 Works Theatrical has just announced a final extension for Rent!
With an initial closing date slated for June 1 at 3pm, the company has added show dates for May 30 at 8pm, June 1 at 8pm, and June 2 at 3pm. Audiences can secure tickets through Ticket2Me.
Rent features Anthony Rosaldo as Roger, Molly Langley and Thea Astley alternating as Mimi, Ian Pangilinan and Reb Atadero alternating as Mark, Justine Peña and Jasmine Fitzgerald alternating as Maureen, Garrett Bolden as Tom Collins, Adrian Lindayag and Lance Reblando alternating as Angel, Mica Fajardo and Fay Castro alternating as Joanne, Markki Stroem as Benny, and Guji Lorenzana as Benny/ Mr. Johnson. Stroem will also play the role of Tom Collins in certain performances.
Completing the cast are Abi Sulit as Pam, Jordan Andrews as Gordono, Misha Fabian as Ally, Chesko Rodriguez and Antonio Valdez alternating as Steve, Kai Banson as Alexi Darling, and Vyen Villanueva as Paul.
Written by Jonathan Larson (book, music, and lyrics), 9 Works Theatrical’s staging of Rent is directed by the company’s Artistic Director, Robbie Guevara. Joining him in the creative team are Daniel Bartolome as musical director, Mio Infante as scenographer, PJ Rebullida as choreographer, Shakira Villa-Symes as lighting designer, Joee Mejias as video designer, Bam Tiongson as sound designer, Dong Calingacion as technical director, Elliza Aurelio as Front of House and hair and makeup head, Cathy Azanza-Dy as acting coach, Lionel Guico as vocal coach, and JV Rabano as photographer.
Rent is a Tony and Pulitzer Prize-winning rock musical, loosely based on Giacomo Puccini’s opera La Bohème. Set in the East Village of New York City during the late 1980s and early 1990s, it follows a diverse group of struggling artists, musicians, and bohemians as they navigate life, love, and creativity amidst the HIV/AIDS crisis.
The show opened on April 20, 2024 at the Carlos P. Romulo Auditorium of RCBC Plaza.
