‘Twenty Questions’ Returns to the Stage this April
Theatre Titas’ staging of Juan Ekis’ Twenty Questions returns for a limited run this March following two sold-out runs for the show’s 20th anniversary last year.
The upcoming rerun is a fundraising event for the benefit of Anihan Technical School, which provides financially challenged young girls with guaranteed employment after completing senior high school or a two-year vocational course in Quick Service Restaurant Operations. Graduates of Anihan are also equipped to either start their own micro-business or pursue higher college degrees.
Twenty Questions is a one-act play that finds college friends Jigs and Yumi locked in a hotel room for 24 hours as part of an annual barkada tradition. To pass the time, they partake in a game of twenty questions, which forces them to open up to each other and talk about their views on love, life, and sex.
Isabelle Prado, who played Yumi in last year’s production, returns to reprise her role. Jel Tarun joins the company to play Jigs, a role previously played by Diego Aranda. The show is directed by Cheese Mendez, who is also Theatre Titas’ Co-Founder and Chief Marketing Head.
First penned in 2003, Mendez says that his new treatment of the show explores how ideas about relationships written two decades ago might still resonate with today’s audience and their points of view.
Twenty Questions will run from April 26 to 28 at 8pm, with a 3pm matinee show on Sunday, at The Mirror Studio Theatre in Brgy. Poblacion, Makati. Tickets can be purchased for P800 each at teeq.live.
