WATCH: Tick, Tick… Boom!’s ‘Green Green Dress’ Deleted Scene is Now Online
The deleted scene Green Green Dress from the 2021 Netflix film adaptation of Jonathan Larson’s Tick, Tick…Boom!, directed by Lin-Manuel Miranda, has just been posted online.
Instead of a full musical number performed by Jon and Susan, just like in the stage production, the song in the film can only be heard as background music playing in the radio, performed by Joshua Henry.
Tick, Tick…Boom! stars Andrew Garfield as the titular character Jon, who experiences an existential crisis on the eve of his thirtieth birthday in 1990. While he works as a waiter at a New York Diner, Jon has also been composing his original rock musical for the last eight years. Just days before he showcases his work, Jon feels incredible pressure to live a certain way from everyone and everywhere as the days goes by and as the clock continues to tick.
Starring alongside Garfield are Alexandra Shipp as Susan and Robin de Jesús as Michael. They are joined by Vanessa Hudgens, Joshua Henry, MJ Rodriguez, Bradley Whitford, Tariq Trotter, and Judith Light. The film is directed Lin-Manuel Miranda, with a screenplay by Steven Levenson and choreography by Ryan Heffington.
The film is nominated for two Academy Awards–Best Actor in a Leading Role for Andrew Garfield and Best Film Editing.
