‘Fame the Musical’ Free Stream Now Online
The Shows Must Go On!
The channel that has provided free weekly streams of full-length musicals has announced a new season of content, beginning with the stream of the 30th anniversary production of Fame.
Fame the musical is based on the 1980 film of the same name that followed the struggles of students attending the New York High School of Performing Arts. Some of the show’s most memorable songs include “There She Goes/Fame!”, “Can’t Keep It Down,” and “Bring On Tomorrow.”
The show will be available on The Shows Must Go On! YouTube Channel for 48 hours.
The production being streamed was directed and choreographed by Nick Winston. Other members of the creative team include Morgan Large (design), Ben Harriosn (sound design), and Mark Crossland (musical supervisor). The production stars Mica Paris, Jorgie Porter, Keith Jack, and Stephanie Rojas.
The Shows Must Go On has been streaming musicals for free since as early as April this year starting with Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat which was followed by Jesus Christ Superstar, The Phantom of the Opera and its sequel, Love Never Dies, Cats, and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s 50th Birthday Tribute Concert at the Royal Albert Hall.
Other musicals that streamed were the NBC Live versions of The Sound of Music, The Wiz, and Hairspray, but these were not available in Asia and Latin America due to rights restrictions.
While the stream is free, all those who watch are highly encouraged to donate and proceeds will go to The Actors Fund, Acting for Others, Broadway Cares, Actors Benevolent Fund, and other charities.
